Man held in BJP office vandalism case at Pratapgarh

Agartala, 7th January 2026 :    East Agartala police station staff has arrested Debasish Saha, also known as Kanai in connection with the vandalism at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Pratapgarh.

The incident took place on late night during the immersion of idols on Kali Puja’s Dashami, when tensions flared in the Pratapgarh area. According to allegations, miscreants attacked the BJP office near Pratapgarh Bridge in the 31st Assembly constituency, damaging furniture and tearing down photographs of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. Several motorcycles parked outside the office were also vandalized.

A large police force rushed to the spot soon after receiving reports of the attack. Following investigation, officers arrested Saha yesterday for his alleged involvement in the violence.

Police said further inquiries are underway to identify others linked to the incident.
