Agartala, 12th February 2026: The Additional Sessions Judge Court No. 03 in Agartala, West District, has convicted Kajal Debbarma (52), son of late Pranesh Debbarma of Jagatpur, G.B Bazar Road, under serious charges related to sexual assault.
Debbarma was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life and fined ₹5,000. In default of payment, he will serve an additional two months of simple imprisonment. The conviction was made under Section 376(2)(f)(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 06 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, in connection with Special (POCSO) Case No. 19/2024 and Mandwai PS Case No. 03/2024, registered on April 16, 2024.
The investigation was led by Inspector Parikshit Debbarma of Mandwai Police Station, who submitted the chargesheet on July 16, 2024. After a thorough trial, the court found the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
