Agartala, 6th September 2025: The historic Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur, one of the revered 51 Shakti Peeths is set to unveil its newly renovated form under the Centre’s PRASAD scheme. Initiated in 2018 following a change in state leadership, then-Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb led the temple’s transformation to enhance its spiritual and cultural appeal.
Today, an administrative delegation from the state Chief Secretary JK Sinha and DG Anurag rushed to Matabari for security on Saturday. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K, District Magistrate and other officials of the district were present.
The renovation, now in its final stages includes structural upgrades, aesthetic enhancements and improved facilities for devotees and local vendors. The temple’s upper sanctum has been refurbished, while the lower section has been redesigned to accommodate shops. Exterior painting and lighting installations are also nearing completion.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy confirmed that the government is actively coordinating with the Prime Minister’s Office to schedule an official inauguration. “We’re hopeful that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the temple’s new look. Discussions have already taken place,” he stated. He added that Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha is working to avoid the festive rush of Durga Puja and Kali Puja, aiming for a more suitable date.
The anticipation isn’t limited to Udaipur alone. Devotees across Tripura and beyond are eagerly awaiting the Prime Minister’s visit and the formal unveiling of the temple’s revitalized form. The project is seen as a significant step in boosting religious tourism and preserving the state’s cultural heritage.
