Agartala, 7th September 2025 : Sporadic torrential rain lashed several parts of West Tripura district from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, leading to flooding in low-lying areas.
By Sunday afternoon, the suburbs of Agartala, Kashipur, Baldakhal and nearby localities were left waterlogged as the rising water level of the Howrah River spilled into residential areas.
Locals said that although rainfall was not intense in Agartala on Saturday, the situation worsened as the river swelled from Sunday noon. Anticipating flooding, many residents left their houses and shifted to safer locations before the administration could intervene.
By the time officials were alerted, several parts of Baldakhal and Kashipur were already under knee-deep water. The administration has since started monitoring the situation to prevent any untoward incidents.
Authorities have assured that precautionary measures are in place, and the situation is being closely watched as rainfall continues in the region.
