Agartala, 9th March 2024: Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder inspected various civic works and distributed bicycles to 25 girls under Ward No. 17 of the corporation on Saturday.
The Mayor first reviewed the progress of the water tank under construction at Vijay Kumar Girls School. He then directed the officers to stop the illegal construction of a multi-storey flat near the school. He also visited some broken drains near the Satsang Ashram and instructed the officials to repair them as soon as possible.
Majumder also warned the builders of high-rises being constructed illegally across the city. He said that if the lot is not built in accordance with the rules of the corporation, it can be demolished.
The mayor said that the education department is constantly trying to improve the quality of education in the city. He said that the initiative to give bicycles to girls was aimed at encouraging them to pursue higher studies and reduce the dropout rate.
He also said that the Municipal Corporation is working on a multifaceted plan to beautify the city, develop various civic services and create new infrastructure. He credited the Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha for making all these possible.
