Agartala, April 24, 2023: Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Dipak Majumder on Monday inaugurated a seven-day long event of Umakanta Academy’s NSS camp in presence of social worker Sanjay Saha, school’s principal Dr Rajesh Debbarma and others.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Majumder said that there are members of NSS in schools, colleges and universities. “The significance of this service is very high. This NSS depicts the picture that create own to provide service for others. We, who are living in this society, do have some responsibility towards our society after our family”, he added.
Mayor said that the seven-day-long event of NSS Unit of the Umakanta Academy here has lots of activities like planting of saplings, distribution of clothes and food among distress people, create awareness among people regarding traffic signals, etc.
Highlighting the significance of students, Majumder said “The students are the future of our country as they will be there to take the responsibility managing our society, state and country. Hence, their upbringing should be done in a rightful way. Only studying and playing games will not develop a child in every way, co-curricular activities is also an essential part in each and every one’s life.”
