Agartala, 5th February 2024 :   Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar on Monday visited the MB Tilla market of the capital city to inspect the progress of the construction work of new shed houses for the vendors. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow pace and poor quality of the work and warned the construction company of changing them if they fail to meet the deadline.

The Mayor said that he had received several complaints from the market committee and the local residents about the delay and the irregularities in the construction work. He decided to visit the market personally and verify the situation. He found that the work was not up to the mark and the construction company was not following the plan and the specifications.

The Mayor reminded that the land for the construction of new shed houses in the market was through ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha a few months back. He said that the Chief Minister had promised to complete the work before the next Durga Puja and provide better facilities and infrastructure to the vendors and the customers.

Majumder said that he would not tolerate any compromise on the quality and the timeline of the work and would take strict action against the construction company if they do not improve their performance.

The Mayor also said that he had noticed some small traders selling vegetables on both sides of the road in the Sevak Sangh area near the market. He said that this was causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public.

He said that he would talk to the market committee and arrange for a new shed for them in the coming days. He appealed to the traders to cooperate with the administration and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the market.

The Mayor was accompanied by the members of the market committee and the councilors of the area during his visit. He interacted with the vendors and the customers and assured them of providing better services and amenities in the market. He also thanked them for their support and patience during the construction work.
