Meat trader allegedly assaulted at Baikhora market

Date:

Agartala, 22nd  August 2026 :  Kaisoram Reang, Chairman of Kalshir-mukh Village and a meat trader, was allegedly assaulted by two youths at Baikhora Market in South Tripura on Saturday, triggering tension in the area.

According to the complaint, Reang was on his way to Baikhora Market carrying meat when two youths, identified as Bijon and Sujan, allegedly attacked him from behind and severely beat him. Reang claimed that the assault caused serious injuries and that the attackers even attempted to kill him.

Despite sustaining injuries, Reang reportedly managed to escape and reached Baikhora Police Station, where he informed the police about the incident. Police subsequently took him to Baikhora Primary Health Centre. After providing first aid, doctors referred him to Santirbazar District Hospital for further treatment.

Reang alleged that he had earlier been involved in a verbal dispute with Bijon Banik over a business space at Lakshmichhara Market. He suspects that the previous disagreement may have led to the alleged attack.

Reang has lodged a formal complaint with Baikhora Police, seeking legal action against the accused and demanding appropriate punishment. Police are expected to investigate the allegations and take action based on the complaint.
