Media acts as link between govt & people, says CM interacting with journalists

Agartala, October 1, 2022: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday said that the work of creating a link between the government and the people is done by the media as it is also fulfilling the responsibility of presenting to the people the developmental work that the state government is doing for public welfare.

Chief Minister Dr Saha today interacted with journalists and photo-journalists on the eve of Durga Puja festival at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Saturday afternoon.

While interacting with the media representatives, the Chief Minister said that the media is the mirror of the society. Journalists highlight various issues of the society in the media. As the fourth pillar of democracy, reporting the mistakes of the government is also one of the responsibilities of the media. But it should be in a positive way.

He said that the present state government is working towards making “Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura” and “Nesha Mukta Tripura”. The media also has an important role in the successful implementation of this initiative of the government. He said that the present government is the people’s government. The government is working by adopting various plans to improve the socio-economic condition of the people. This view of the state government towards the people must be highlighted in the media. Besides, the Chief Minister urged the media to convey to the people all the initiatives taken by the state government as part of good governance.

Dr Saha said that the present government of the state is newspaper friendly. The government has various measures for the welfare of journalists and already implemented. In the coming days too, the government will work for the welfare of journalists by the side of the media. He also said that the state government is working with various announcements for public welfare in spite of financial constraints. The chief minister urged the journalists to work in a fear-free environment by standing by the government for the welfare of the people.

Apart from spending the few days of Durga Puja happily, the Chief Minister also urged everyone to be aware that there is no disruption of law and order.
