Medicine Specialist accused of neglecting duties at South Tripura District Hospital

Date:

Agartala, 18th   May 2026:  Serious allegations have surfaced against a Medicine Specialist at South Tripura District Hospital, with patients accusing him of neglecting his government duties in favor of his private practice.

Since this morning, numerous patients from different areas arrived at the hospital seeking medical consultation from Dr. Sagar Samrat Debbarma. However, after waiting in long queues and obtaining tickets, they were left disappointed upon discovering that the doctor was absent from the hospital premises.

Aggrieved patients and their relatives alleged that Dr. Debbarma frequently skips his hospital responsibilities to attend to patients at his private chamber. According to them, this practice has become routine, forcing many, especially economically weaker patients, to visit his private clinic and pay a consultation fee of Rs 300 for treatment.

Several individuals also claimed that in previous instances, the doctor had advised hospital patients to consult him at his private chamber instead. The situation sparked anger among those present at the hospital on Monday, leading to protests and strong resentment against the alleged misconduct.

The public has now urged the Health Department to intervene and take strict action to ensure that essential medical services are not compromised. All eyes are now on the authorities to see what measures will be taken in response to the allegations against the doctor.
