TGTA welcomes postponement of Indian Language Summer Camp

Date:

Agartala, 18th   May 2026:  The Tripura Government Teachers’ Association (HB Road) has welcomed the state government’s decision to postpone the proposed “Indian Language Summer Camp,” describing the move as a “moral victory” for the logical and collective concerns raised by the teaching community.

In a press statement issued today, the association said the Department of School Education officially announced the postponement through Memo No. 13(2-6)SE/GL-I/2026. The organization expressed gratitude to the department for what it termed a “positive and timely decision.”

According to the statement, the association had earlier raised strong objections and practical concerns regarding the organization of the summer camp. It maintained that the opposition was not limited to a single organization but reflected the broader sentiment of teachers across the state.

The association claimed it had highlighted the ground realities, administrative challenges, and difficulties faced by teachers in a “forceful, resolute, and responsible” manner before the authorities. It further stated that the government’s latest decision validated the logical and pragmatic arguments put forward by the teaching community.

The TGTA (HB Road) also observed that postponing such an “expensive camp” amid prevailing economic austerity measures and current realities was a sensible step. The organization reiterated its commitment to critically examining policies related to education and teachers’ welfare while maintaining a constructive approach.

In the statement, General Secretary Ashish Chowdhury expressed hope that the Education Department would continue to adopt a sensitive and cooperative attitude while framing future education-related policies and decisions. He also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to protecting the interests of both teachers and students and working toward improving the overall quality of education in the state.
