Agartala, 6th June 2025: In a major push towards equitable healthcare access, a Mega Health and Blood Donation Camp was organized on June 6 in Chawmanu — one of the most remote villages under Longtarai Valley.
The initiative was led by the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) in collaboration with the All Tripura Government Doctors Association (ATGDA) and the Chawmanu Social Health Center. Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, Deputy Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital and General Secretary of ATGDA, said that the outreach aimed to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved regions.
Thirteen specialist doctors from various disciplines took part in the camp, extending essential medical services to rural residents. A total of 413 patients received treatment during the day-long event. The highest turnout was recorded in the departments of medicine (121), pediatrics (80), and surgery (66), while consultations were also offered in gynecology, orthopedics, ENT, dermatology, ophthalmology, and obstetrics. Free medicines were distributed to ensure follow-up care.
“Apart from clinical services, we also conducted a blood donation drive to support the state’s critical blood supply,” said Dr. Chowdhury. A total of 18 doctors and volunteers donated blood during the camp.
Prominent medical professionals who contributed to the initiative included Dr. Kamal Das, Dr. Priyajyoti Chakma, Dr. Anupam Dutta, Dr. Achintya Pal, Dr. Satyakam Chakraborty, Dr. Shirshendu Dhar, Dr. Digvijay Krishna Debbarma, Dr. Uttam Kumar Bhattacharya, Dr. Monodeep Mondal, Dr. Anindya Debnath, Dr. Chayan Chakma, and Dr. Gopa Pal.
Dr. Chowdhury emphasized that the initiative reflects the association’s mission to deliver quality healthcare to the grassroots. “Our aim is to ensure that residents in remote areas like Chawmanu can access the same standard of medical care available in urban hubs like Agartala,” he said.
This was the third such mega health camp organized by AGMC and ATGDA, following successful events at Manubazar and Takarjala, signaling a sustained commitment to rural healthcare outreach in Tripura.
