Agartala, 9th August 2025:   Manu Valley in Unakoti district witnessed a remarkable healthcare initiative today as its local panchayat office ground turned into a bustling medical fairground. Organized by the All Tripura Government Doctors’ Association (ATGDA) – Unakoti in collaboration with Agartala Government Medical College, Unakoti District Health Society and Samrurpar Primary Health Centre, the mega specialist health camp drew hundreds of villagers seeking free medical care.

Held under the “WEALTH” project, the camp offered specialist consultations across multiple disciplines including medicine, surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, and dentistry. From early morning, the venue saw an overwhelming turnout, with over 400 registrations recorded by midday and numbers continuing to rise throughout the day.

The camp’s inauguration was attended by Chandipur Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Sampa Das Pal, Manu Valley Gram Panchayat Pradhan Nitesh Digar, Unakoti District Medical Officer Dr. Sanjay Rudra Pal, District Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Rohan Pal, Immunization Officer Dr. Sandipan Bhattacharya, and Samrurpar PHC Medical Officer-in-Charge Dr. Ria Bhadra.

Dr. Arup Chakraborty, Secretary of ATGDA-Unakoti, highlighted the scale and impact of the initiative: “Renowned specialists have come not only from the local region but also from Agartala. Blood tests, X-rays, ECGs, all are being conducted here and 90% of essential medicines are being distributed free of cost directly from the camp.”

He further revealed that 30 patients requiring surgical intervention were identified during the camp. Their operations will be conducted free of charge at the district hospital.

Local residents lauded the initiative, calling it more than just a health camp. Many described it as a rare example of medical outreach and humanitarian service in rural Tripura.
