Agartala, 14th July 2026: The historic Rath Yatra festival of Melaghar is set to begin on July 15 with a grand nine-day celebration at the Jagannath Bari premises. The event is being organised jointly by the Sepahijala District Administration, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, and the Melaghar Municipal Council.
The festival will continue till July 23, featuring religious rituals and cultural programmes throughout the period. The opening ceremony will take place on July 15 at 4 PM, where Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the celebrations.
Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman will be present as the chief guest, while Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta and MLA Bindu Debnath will attend as special guests. Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal and Superintendent of Police Vijay Debbarma will be among the distinguished guests present at the event.
The inaugural programme will be chaired by Melaghar Municipal Council Chairperson Anamika Ghosh Pal Roy. The festival, known for its rich cultural and religious significance, is expected to draw a large number of devotees and visitors during the nine-day celebration.
