Agartala, 18th September 2025:  A disturbing case of sexual assault has emerged from Kailashahar, where a mentally unstable woman was allegedly raped on two consecutive nights by a young man. The incident took place within the premises of the Kailashahar court complex and was captured on CCTV.

Sources informed that the woman had been living in a semi-homeless state for several months, spending her days and nights on the verandah of a hotel adjacent to the court. With no trace of her family, she relied on food from nearby shops and slept on the upper floor of the hotel after dark.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows the accused surveying the area before attacking the woman under the cover of night. He is seen engaging in non-consensual sexual acts with her for an extended period. The assault was repeated on both the 14th and 15th of the month, according to the footage.

The hotel owner, upon reviewing the surveillance recordings was reportedly shocked and immediately alerted others. The footage has since triggered widespread condemnation from residents, including lawyers, business owners, and local citizens, who are demanding swift and exemplary punishment for the perpetrator.

Concerns have also been raised about the potential consequences for the victim, including the possibility of pregnancy. Locals have questioned whether administrative negligence and societal apathy are enabling such heinous acts to occur unchecked.

While the suspect’s face is clearly visible in the footage and some individuals claim to recognize him, his identity has not yet been officially disclosed. Residents are urging authorities to identify and arrest the accused without delay and ensure that justice is served.
