Michael Madhusudhan Datta College, Sabroom holds special awareness programme

Agartala, 1st September 2025;  Under the initiative of the NSS unit of Sabroom Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College, a discussion session was organized to promote awareness about plastic pollution and its adverse effects. The program focused on the college campus and five adopted villages under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The event was chaired by Dr. Anupam Guha,Principal.  Professor Arup Patari, NSS Program Officer, along with faculty members and students were also present in the programme.

The discussion highlighted the alarming accumulation of plastic use, which poses serious environmental concerns affecting aquatic life, wildlife, soil, water, and human health. It is undeniable that biodiversity is under threat due to plastic pollution. To address this issue, it is essential to reduce plastic consumption, promote recycling, and adopt eco-friendly alternatives.

Furthermore, creating awareness about plastic pollution and taking proactive steps to combat it are crucial. During the program, all attendees pledged to keep the college campus plastic-free. At the end of the event, participants took part in a cleanliness drive.

The NSS Unit of the college announced that regular programs will be organized in villages to further reduce plastic pollution and raise awareness about its impacts.
