Migrant Worker Seriously Injured After Falling from Three-Storey Building at Dhalai District Hospital

Date:

Agartala, 28th August 2026: Despite the existence of several safety regulations for construction workers, concerns remain over their implementation at various construction sites in Tripura. Many workers, particularly migrants, are reportedly forced to work without adequate safety equipment, putting their lives at serious risk.

In yet another such incident, a migrant worker was seriously injured after falling from the third floor of an under-construction building at Dhalai District Hospital on Friday morning.

The injured worker has been identified as Goures Namasudra, a resident of the Karimganj area of Assam’s Cachar district. According to reports, he was working as a mason at the hospital construction site.

The incident occurred when Goures was carrying out construction work on the third floor of the hospital building. He reportedly lost his footing and fell to the ground, sustaining serious injuries to his waist and legs.

His co-workers immediately rescued him and rushed him to Dhalai District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The incident has raised fresh questions over the safety arrangements provided to workers at construction sites. The accident has also highlighted concerns about whether adequate safety measures, including protective equipment and other precautions, were in place while the construction work was being carried out.

Workers engaged in construction activities often work at considerable heights and under hazardous conditions. Proper safety measures are therefore essential to prevent accidents and protect their lives.
