Agartala, 29th May 2026: Minister of State for Tribal Welfare, Durgadas Uikey, visited Unakoti District this week and held extensive interactions with women Self-Help Group (SHG) members promoted under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).
During his visit, the Minister toured the Agarbatti Manufacturing Unit at South Unakoti VC and the District Level Aggregation Centre-cum-Selling Outlet under Kumarghat Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU). He engaged directly with SHG Didis, enquiring about their product manufacturing processes, livelihood activities, income generation, and entrepreneurial journeys.
As a gesture of appreciation and to promote local rural enterprises, a gift hamper comprising SHG-made products was presented to the Minister by Megha Jain, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Unakoti.
Officials noted that the Minister’s visit served as an encouragement to rural women entrepreneurs, highlighting the growing impact of SHG-led enterprises in strengthening livelihoods and fostering self-reliance across the district.
