West Tripura generates 28.63 lakh workdays under MGNREGA in FY 2025-26

Agartala, 29th May 2026:  West Tripura district recorded significant employment creation under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) during the last financial year. According to official data, a total of 28.63 lakh person-days of work were generated between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.

The district administration had set a target of 37.66 lakh person-days across nine blocks, of which nearly three-fourths was achieved. Through these labour days, 238 development projects were initiated, covering a wide range of rural infrastructure works.

A total of 30 box culverts were constructed, while 63 brick soled roads and 103 CC roads were built across the district. In addition, five storm water drains were installed and seven compound walls erected. Infrastructure works also included the renovation of nine Anganwadi centres, the construction of one community toilet, and the development of three CSC buildings.

Under social and community facilities, a cremation ground was set up, along with a school kitchen shed and two rural markets. Other projects comprised four SHG federation buildings, four paver block works, two pucca drains, one soak pit, and one work shed.

Significantly, under the Chief Minister’s Rubber Mission, rubber plantations were cultivated on 917.10 hectares of land, marking a major livelihood and agricultural initiative.

Other works included a cremation ground, school kitchen shed, rural markets, SHG federation buildings, paver blocks, drains, soak pits, and work sheds.

The West Tripura MGNREGA division confirmed that these initiatives were aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure while ensuring livelihood opportunities for thousands of households.
