Agartala, 10th July 2025: A shocking incident of alleged child poisoning has surfaced from Boxanagar, where an 11-year-old boy Alif Hossain reportedly lost his life after consuming juice laced with poison allegedly served by his maternal aunt.
According to family sources, the child had been visiting his uncle’s residence when, three days back, his aunt identified as Jannat Akhtar allegedly mixed poison into mango juice and offered it to the child. Later that night, Alif’s health deteriorated rapidly, prompting his immediate transfer to Boxanagar Community Health Centre. Due to the severity of his condition, attending doctors referred him to GBP Hospital at Agartala, where he remained under treatment for two days.
Tragically, Alif succumbed to his illness this morning. His body was handed over to family members following a post-mortem examination at GBP Hospital.
The boy’s family has claimed that long-standing domestic tensions existed between his aunt and uncle, which may have led to the alleged act. They further stated that the aunt took refuge at her parental home following the incident. A formal complaint is expected to be lodged against the accused with the local police.
