Agartala, 12th August 2026: Police in Kakraban have arrested a youth accused in a minor girl abduction case. On Tuesday evening, the accused, Momin Hossain, was arrested from a forested area in Hadra following a police operation based on a tip-off.
According to police and family sources, the incident occurred on August 9 when a school-going minor went missing on her way to class. The family alleged that Momin Hossain had taken the girl away. Subsequently, the victim’s uncle lodged a complaint at Kakraban Police Station, accusing Hossain of abduction and trafficking.
Acting swiftly, police rescued the minor the same day and returned her to her family. However, the accused managed to evade arrest at that time. Since then, police had been conducting searches across several areas to trace him.
Finally, on August 11, Kakraban police succeeded in arresting Hossain from Hadra forest. He has been booked under multiple charges, including provisions of the POCSO Act. The investigation is being led by Women Sub-Inspector Purnima Das.
Speaking on the matter, Kakraban Police Station Officer-in-Charge Gopal Shukla Das confirmed that both the victim’s rescue and the arrest of the accused have been accomplished. He added that the case is being thoroughly investigated to ensure justice.
