Agartala, 1st November 2025: Tensions flared in Kailashahar’s Muslimpalli locality this afternoon following the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old girl, leaving three people injured and prompting a heavy police deployment at the district hospital.
The incident took place around 7 PM in Ward No. 2 of Muslimpalli, under the Chanthail Gram Panchayat in Chandipur RD Block. A local resident Mustafa Ali said that a group of 7–8 individuals forcibly entered his home and abducted his teenage daughter while no male family members were present. Ali claimed that when his wife Jaytun Nessa and sister Afia Begum tried to intervene, they were assaulted with sharp weapons, resulting in deep cuts to their hands. One of the alleged attackers, Ismail Ali from Nawagaon in Ichbpur Panchayat, was caught during the scuffle and sustained minor injuries.
The injured women were rushed to Unakoti District Hospital for treatment. As news of the incident spread, supporters from both sides gathered at the hospital premises, leading to heightened tensions. Police, led by Kailashahar OC Tapas Malakar and backed by TSR personnel, were deployed to prevent further escalation. Despite attempts by some youths to stir unrest, no major untoward incident occurred due to the prompt police response.
Ismail Ali, who was among those injured, offered a conflicting account. He stated that he had visited another residence in the area when chaos erupted over the girl’s alleged abduction. He claimed that members of Mustafa Ali’s family attacked him with torches on the street, causing serious head injuries. Ali further alleged that the girl was romantically involved with local youth Jayfar Ali and questioned why he was targeted over their relationship. He intends to file a police complaint against the assault.
Sources later confirmed that the minor was rescued late at night by a team led by Kailashahar Women’s Police Station OC Swarna Debbarma and handed over to her family. The incident has triggered widespread concern and unrest in the Muslimpalli area.
Hospital authorities reported that Ismail Ali’s condition deteriorated, and he was referred to Agartala’s GB Hospital for advanced treatment.
