Agartala, 9th March 2025:  Barajala witnessed a violent incident as unidentified miscreants attacked the residence of CPIM supporter Kajal Sengupta. The assailants hurled crude bombs at her house and set it ablaze, reducing one of her houses and various furniture items to ashes. According to Sengupta, the estimated damage from the attack amounts to approximately Rs 20 lakh.

He further revealed that this was not the first attack against her, as a rubber plantation near her house had previously been torched. Local residents suspect that the incident was fueled by political vendetta. Sengupta, who resides in the Kalyan Sen Para area of Usha Bazar, was actively involved in politics during the Left era.

There are also allegations against her of causing distress to people during the Left rule. However, such an act of violence against her residence has been deemed an unprecedented event. The local police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working towards identifying the miscreants responsible for the attack. Authorities are yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made. The situation remains tense as political tensions escalate in the region.
