Agartala, 16th January 2026:    The NSS unit of Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College in Sabroom today organized an awareness program as part of the National Road Safety Month 2026.

The month-long observance of National Road Safety Month is being held across the country from January 1st to January 31st, 2026. The main theme of this year’s campaign is “Road Safety – Save Lives.” The primary objective is to raise awareness among the general public about road safety and to reduce road accidents.

Volunteers from the college’s NSS unit actively distributed leaflets and engaged in discussions in front of the college main gate and surrounding areas to promote awareness about the frequent accidents that occur. They appealed to pedestrians, scooter and bike riders, and motor workers to be cautious, emphasizing that awareness can significantly prevent accidents. The volunteers urged everyone to follow traffic rules, avoid using headphones while walking or driving, wear helmets, and refrain from driving under the influence of substances.

The program was attended by NSS Program Officer Dr. Arup Patari and officials from Sabroom Police Station. The local community appreciated and supported the college’s initiative to promote road safety.
