Agartala, 26th September 2026 : Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, T. Thakur Khalkho, visited Unakoti DMMU on Saturday to take stock of livelihood activities being carried out by women Self-Help Group (SHG) members with support from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).
The visit was part of her three-day tour of Tripura. She was accompanied by the CEO of TRLM, the District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti, and other officials.
During the visit, Khalkho inspected a range of livelihood enterprises developed through TRLM interventions. She visited the Packaging Unit, the USHA-supported Training Centre, the Aggregation Centre, Sampanna natural farming unit and Sanjog Canteen.
The initiatives showcased the efforts of women SHG members to create sustainable income opportunities through entrepreneurship, skill development, natural farming and value addition. The collective enterprises also demonstrated how SHG-based institutions are helping rural women expand their economic activities and strengthen local livelihoods.
The visit provided an opportunity for the visiting official to observe the functioning of these enterprises and interact with stakeholders involved in the implementation of rural livelihood programmes in the district.
