Agartala, 17th June 2024: MP Biplab Kumar Deb made scathing remarks against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday condemning the political violence in West Bengal and highlighting the plight of women and children. During his visit to various locations in Cooch Behar, Deb met with victims of these alleged atrocities.
“Women and even children are not spared from the political atrocities of the Trinamool Congress,” Deb asserted, emphasizing the lack of protection for women in Bengal. “In this state led by a woman Chief Minister, women are being gang-raped. They are not safe,” he stated, pointing to the severe consequences of post-election violence which has forced many to flee their homes due to terror, attacks, and death threats.
Deb criticized the long-standing rule of the communists in Bengal, saying, “Bengal was ruled by communists for a long time. Their people threw them away.” He directed a stern warning to the current Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, urging her to “correct yourself.”
He further mentioned that all reports on the West Bengal terror probe would be submitted to BJP All India President JP Nadda, highlighting the seriousness of the issue and the party’s intent to address it at the highest levels.
The visit and Deb’s comments come amid rising concerns over political violence in West Bengal, drawing national attention to the state’s tumultuous political climate.
