Agartala, 14th April 2025: At an event commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Kamalasagar Mandal today, former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb made strong remarks about political history in Tripura. Deb claimed, “Political murders started in Tripura during the communist rule. Political murders did not happen during the Congress rule.” He attributed the beginning of such incidents to the tenure of former Chief Minister Nripen Chakraborty.
Deb also criticized Congress for its alleged treatment of Dr. Ambedkar during elections, stating, “During the Congress rule, various tactics were used to defeat Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the elections. The person who wrote the Constitution of India was not respected by Congress and CPM.” He further accused Congress of disregarding the Constitution, saying, “Congress does not even respect the Constitution. They only understand dynastic politics.”
Highlighting the BJP’s approach, Deb praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, asserting, “The BJP government has given due status to Ambedkar.”
The event saw the presence of Antara Sarkar Deb, MLA of Kamalasagar; Sushanta Deb, MLA of Bishalgarh; Bharatiya Janata Party Sepahijala District President Biplab Chakraborty; Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Supriya Das Datta; and Kamalasagar Mandal President Kajal Sarkar.
