Agartala, 18th July 2026: Agartala: Jul 18. Former Tripura Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday met Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash (J.P.) Nadda in New Delhi to discuss advanced medical treatment for Manashree, a 22-month old girl from Tripura suffering from a rare medical condition.
During the meeting, Deb briefed the Union Health Minister on Manashree’s current health condition, the progress of her treatment, and the latest medical assessment by specialists at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The discussion also focused on possible support from the Union Health Ministry to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of her advanced treatment.
Later, Deb stated through a social media post that the Health Minister listened to the matter with seriousness and held detailed discussions on various aspects of Manashree’s future treatment. He said the possibility of extending assistance from the Ministry was also discussed positively.
Deb has been closely associated with Manashree’s treatment since her family sought his assistance. Acting on their request, he facilitated her medical evaluation and treatment at AIIMS and also consulted Dr. Sheffali Gulati, a specialist in the rare disease affecting the child.
Meanwhile, Manashree’s father has submitted an appeal to the Union Health Minister through Deb, requesting Central Government assistance in procuring the life-saving medicine required for her treatment. The appeal also seeks consideration for humanitarian support under the pharmaceutical company’s Compassionate Access Programme.
Sources said Deb urged the Union Health Minister to ensure that Manashree’s treatment progresses without delay and that all possible support from the Central Government is extended. The matter is expected to be examined in accordance with the Centre’s established policies and procedures.
