Agartala, December 11: MP Biplab Kumar Deb raised several issues in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, including the delivery charge of cooking gas cylinders and the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2023.

He said that the consumers of cooking gas are not informed about the transportation or delivery charges that are included in the price of the gas. He also said that the customers in urban or semi-urban areas have to pay extra transport costs of Rs 50 to Rs 100 from their own pockets. He urged the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Department Hardeep Singh Puri to take appropriate measures to protect the interests of the consumers.

He also discussed the Jammu and Kashmir bills and praised the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for giving the status they deserve to those whose voices were not heard in the last 70 years. He said that the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 was the right decision and was validated by the highest court of the country.

He expressed his sympathy for the Pandits who have been subjected to unspeakable torture and killings in Kashmir. He said that by amending the bill, they will be given due honour. He said that this issue of Jammu and Kashmir is associated with emotions and feelings and the new generation should be informed about the history of the region. He said that the central government has given them due respect with this decision.

He further said that whenever the situation between India and Pakistan escalated, various religious and ethnic groups, including the scholars in Kashmir, faced unspeakable atrocities and killings. He said that many people who have been deprived of their rights have been oppressed under the shadow of terrorism for 70 years. He said that after 70 years, a new direction of prosperity has been revealed in their lives under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. He paid tribute to the souls of the slain scholars after one minute of the allotted time for his speech.
