Agartala, 21st February 2026:  Development works under the Smart City project have left several parts of Agartala engulfed in dust, causing severe inconvenience to residents and pedestrians. The situation has become so unbearable that many commuters describe it as suffocating.

In response, the youth wing of the Left, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), took to the streets to highlight the issue. On Saturday, the Ramnagar regional committee of DYFI distributed masks among pedestrians in the city, particularly at the Fire Service Chowmuhani area.

According to locals, unplanned and scattered construction activities across Agartala have generated excessive dust, making daily movement difficult. Pedestrians and residents argue that the Agartala Municipal Corporation should take responsibility by spraying water three to four times a day and deploying modern dust-control machines. They believe such measures could significantly ease the problem.
