Agartala, 22nd July 2024:  In a compelling address to the Parliament on Monday, Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb passionately stood up for the immediate completion of infrastructure development at Tripura’s revered Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur situated under the Gomati district.

MP Deb emphasized the temple’s significance stating, “Tripura is the land of Mata Tripura Sundari, and the temple holds a special place as one of the 51 ‘Shakti Peeths’. Each year, hundreds of thousands of devotees flock to this sacred site to offer prayers and seek blessings.”

Under the ‘Prasad’ scheme, ongoing developmental work aims to enhance the temple’s facilities. MP Deb highlighted the temple’s potential for boosting spiritual tourism in the entire North Eastern region of India. He asserted that investing in the temple’s infrastructure would not only contribute to Tripura’s development but also foster spiritual consciousness among the people.

The Ministry of Tourism has already allocated Rs 37.8 crore for the temple’s infrastructure development. However, MP Deb stressed the need for an additional fund of Rs 17.61 crore to expedite progress. He revealed that he had previously written to the former Union Tourism Minister on December 21, 2023, requesting further funds. Regrettably, no assessment has been conducted thus far.

MP Deb concluded by urging the concerned Union Minister to promptly allocate the necessary funds, ensuring timely completion of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple’s infrastructure. The temple’s spiritual legacy and its role in promoting tourism underscore the urgency of this endeavour.
