Agartala, 8th December 2025: The School of Computer Science and Information Technology of Mata Tripura Sundari Open University (MTSOU), Agartala, organised a webinar on “Emerging Technologies and AI Tools in Teaching, Learning, and Research” on December 04 last through Google Meet, drawing educators, scholars, and researchers to explore the growing role of technology in academia.
The session, held from 11 am to 1:30 pm, was delivered by Prof. Ahrar Husain, Professor, Faculty of Education and Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He provided valuable insights into the latest technological trends in education and demonstrated how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can significantly enhance teaching methodologies, learning processes, and research practices.
During the webinar, Prof. Husain discussed the evolution of computers, the progression of web technologies from Web 1.0 to Web 5.0, wearable devices, advancements in mobile networks from 1G to 5G, and the integration of technology under the National Education Policy (NEP). He also highlighted the differences between AI and human cognition, methods of identifying research problems, and the use of web tools before, during, and after the research process.
A strong emphasis was laid on the ethical and pedagogical implications of AI in education. Practical use cases of AI-driven automation, data-based decision-making, and smart digital applications were demonstrated, helping participants understand how these tools are shaping modern learning environments.
Out of 62 registered participants, 38 attended the webinar. The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, where participants sought clarity on the implementation and applicability of various AI-based technologies in their academic work.
The organisers said the webinar successfully met its objectives by enhancing awareness of emerging technologies and strengthening participants’ understanding of AI-supported teaching and research processes. Encouraged by the positive response, participants also expressed interest in future hands-on and tool-based training sessions.
