Agartala, September 16, 2022: Agartala Municipal Corporation has taken multiple initiatives for cleaning and illuminating the Agartala city ahead of ‘Sharadiyo Durgotsav’ and ensure that the people should not face any problem during the puja, all kinds of preparations have been taken by the Corporation to ensure that the Durga Puja festival passes peacefully.
AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder on Wednesday afternoon told media persons that the preparatory meeting for the upcoming Durga Puja festival has been convened at the Corporation’s conference hall in phase manner. Among the 51 wards of the Corporation, Rs 6 lakh has been distributed to each ward for road maintenance and cleaning of surroundings while Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for overall development aiming the Durga Puja festival despite inclement weather.
Apart from this, he said “Agartala Municipal Corporation has decided for the first time that all clubs, organizations, puja committees, puja entrepreneurs of the Corporation area will be awarded with lovely trophies along with prize money in various categories. The awards include- Best Idol, Best Marquee (mandap), Best Theme, Best Lighting Decoration and Complete Puja Conducted by Women etc. These 5 awards will be given for the entire city of Agartala and a prize money of Rs 50 thousand along with a trophy. Again, 4 more prizes will be given zone-wise like Best Idol, Best Mandap, Best Theme and Best Lighting etc. There will be a prize money of Rs 25 thousand and a beautiful trophy.”
“The awards will be given according to the judgment of the judges while maintaining complete impartiality. In any case, the prize money will be divided equally if considered for joint prizes in the same category as judged by the judges. Puja permission form and application form for this award are being distributed in 4 zones of Agartala Municipal Corporation. All Clubs, Organizations, Puja Committees, Puja Entrepreneurs of Agartala Municipal Corporation area can collect these forms from their respective zones”, he added.
The Dasmighat has been extensively renovated by the Agartala Municipal Corporation to complete the desecration of the idols properly. These include road maintenance, lighting, adequate security arrangements and complete desecration of idols with additional trolleys.
This time at Dasmighat with a musical instrument, DJ system as an alternative measure to ban entry to idols immersion place at Dasmighat, musical instrument, and manglik program conducted by women has been organized by AMC. Temporary facilities will be arranged for Dasmighat. Adequate labor arrangements will be kept in three shifts for idol cleaning. Arrangement of two cranes will be kept for the idols and from Shiv Bari to Dashmighat till Triburn will be decorated with colored lights, besides six other main roads of Agartala city will be decorated with Triburn colored lights – From Post Office Chowmuhani to Kaman Chowmuhani; Math Chowmuhani to MBB College Gate; Old RMS Chowmuhani to North Gate via Colonel Chowmuhani; From Durga Chowmuhani to Battala, From Battala Shiva Temple to Dasmighat: and From North Gate to GAIL Office.
