Agartala, 13th January 2026:  A youth sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle near the Lal Singhmura stand in Bishalgarh this afternoon. The injured has been identified as Amit Debbarma.

Locals reported that the force of the collision threw the motorcyclist onto the road, leaving him severely wounded. Local shopkeepers immediately alerted the Bishalgarh Fire Service department, whose personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured youth. He was later taken to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Traffic movement in the area was briefly disrupted following the accident.

This incident comes less than 24 hours after another major crash on the same national highway. Late last night, two vehicles collided head-on near Hospital Chowmuhani in the Bishramganj market area. Several passengers, including the driver of a luxury car, sustained serious injuries. Among the injured were Agantuk Roy and Joy Debnath, along with others. The impact of the collision left the front portions of both vehicles completely mangled.

Local residents and police quickly reached the scene and shifted the injured to Bishramganj Hospital, where they remain under treatment.

Alarmingly, this marks the third accident on the same highway within 24 hours, sparking fear and concern among residents. Locals have demanded stricter traffic regulation and enhanced safety measures on the national highway to prevent further tragedies.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man identified as Shahrukh Hossain of North Aralia, Sonamura was seriously injured after his motorcycle was hit by a Border Security Force (BSF) vehicle near Nasingar School under Sonamura police station. Local sources said Hossain sustained severe injuries to his hand. Residents rushed him to Sonamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Locals alleged that the BSF vehicle was speeding when it struck the motorcycle, leading to the accident.
