Agartala, 23rd May 2025: The tragic murder of nine-year-old Ujjashikha Tripura has taken a new turn, with police making significant progress in the investigation. Late last night, police personnel led by SDPO Nityananda Sarkar arrested the deceased’s 18-year-old brother Sahel Tripura and booked her mother Sabita Tripura for interrogation.
The incident took place on May 21 when Ujjashikha, daughter of Rahim Tripura mysteriously disappeared from Kalavepa Nalsing Sardar Para under Manubazar police station in Sabroom subdivision around 4 PM. After hours of frantic searching, there was no trace of the child. The next day, May 22, her lifeless body was found in a rubber plantation near her home, sending shockwaves through the local community.
“We strongly believe our daughter was murdered. She would never have wandered off on her own like that,” claimed a distraught family member.
Police swiftly arrived at the scene upon receiving the report, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Officials have since launched an extensive investigation. “We are thoroughly examining all angles and questioning individuals connected to the case,” said a police official.
Meanwhile, today, a delegation from the All India Democratic Women’s Association visited the victim’s home to offer condolences and support to the grieving family. “This is a horrific crime, and justice must be served,” said one member of the delegation. Following their visit, they met with officials at Manubazar police station and urged them to ensure the perpetrators face legal action.
