Myanmar national held for illegal stay

Agartala, 7th  February 2026 :   Police in Amtali arrested a Myanmar national from Hapania area on Friday following a tip-off. The youth, identified as Kabil Anam, had reportedly been living illegally in the locality for the past two months.

Police sources informed that Amtali police detained him based on secret information and subsequently registered a case under specific legal provisions. On Saturday afternoon, he was produced before court with a request for police remand.

OC of Amtali Police Station Paritosh Das said investigators believe that interrogation during remand will reveal who sheltered the accused and how he managed to stay in the area undetected. Further investigation is underway.
