Agartala, December 09, 2022: Nabendu Kiran Debnath earned loads of applauds for receiving his PhD degree from Visva Bharati University in West Bengal on September 15. He completed his PhD thesis titled ‘Practice and Prevalence of Instrumental Music in Tripura (20th Century to till date)’ under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sabyasachi Sarkhel.
He graduated from Sachin Devavarman Smriti Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Tripura with honors in Hindustani classical music on sitar instrument and started his research work there in 2015 after completing his postgraduate studies at Visva Bharati Sangeet Bhavan.
Nabendu is son of retired teacher Saman Ranjan Debnath and music teacher Kavita Debnath, resident of Dharmanagar in North District of Tripura.
Nabendu also learnt tabla under guidance of Pulak Bhattacharya, late Guru Harekrishna Roy and Pandit Kumar Bose. He took Sitar lessons from late artist Pramad Ranjan Nath before studying Sitar at Music College in Agartala and later at Visva Bharati.
