Agartala, 21st September 2026 : Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity Tripura will organise a special programme, ‘Namami Bharatam’, in Agartala on September 25 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
The programme will be held at 10:30 am at Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Town Hall, with Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu as the chief guest. Prof Debabrata Das, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, will attend as the guest of honour.
Around 800 students from different Vidya Bharati schools across Tripura are expected to participate in a collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ during the programme. The organisers said the initiative is aimed at fostering national unity, patriotism and cultural awareness among students.
The event is part of a nationwide initiative by Vidya Bharati, under which students from schools across the country will participate in collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’. The organisation has set a target of involving around one crore students across India in the commemorative programme.
The organisers said the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’ offers an opportunity to recall the song’s historical role during India’s freedom movement and familiarise the younger generation with its cultural and national significance.
Through ‘Namami Bharatam’, Vidya Bharati seeks to promote national consciousness, unity, cultural awareness and a sense of responsibility among students.
The programme is being jointly organised by Vidya Bharati Shiksha Samity Tripura and Tripureshwari Vidyamandir, Gandhigram. Educationists, teachers, students, parents and members of civil society have been invited to attend the event.
