Agartala, 21st September 2026 : Eight-month-old Trisha Chanda of Pekuchhara in North Tripura’s Panisagar subdivision has returned home after successfully undergoing heart surgery in Chennai, bringing relief and happiness to her family after months of uncertainty over her congenital heart disease.
Trisha, daughter of Suranjit Chanda and Tumpa Chanda, was identified with a suspected heart ailment following timely intervention by local health workers under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).
The case came to the attention of Sandhya Debbarma, Community Health Officer (CHO) at Pekuchhara Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Sub-Centre), on June 20, 2026. Acting promptly, she initiated the necessary preliminary examinations and coordinated further medical assessment.
As part of the follow-up process, Trisha underwent an echocardiogram at IGM Hospital in Agartala on August 11. The examination confirmed congenital heart disease, following which doctors advised advanced surgical treatment.
Trisha was subsequently taken to Apollo Children’s Hospital in Chennai, where she was admitted on September 5. On September 9, specialist doctors successfully performed the required heart surgery. She remained under medical observation after the procedure and was discharged following satisfactory recovery.
The infant has now returned to her home in Ward No. 2 of Pekuchhara, where her parents and neighbours welcomed her with relief and joy.
Trisha’s parents expressed their gratitude to the Panisagar RBSK medical team, CHO Sandhya Debbarma and other healthcare workers involved in identifying the condition and facilitating her treatment. The case highlights the importance of early detection and timely referral in treating congenital heart conditions among children.
