Agartala, 18th October 2025: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, police in the Teliamura sub-division of Khowai district, Tripura, achieved a significant success during an anti-drug operation early Saturday morning.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, a police team conducted a raid in the Hadrai area and seized approximately 3,500 bottles of banned Phensedyl and Eskuf cough syrup, with an estimated market value exceeding Rs 10 lakh.
The operation was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rohan Krishan, assisted by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jayanta Kumar Dey of Teliamura Police Station and personnel from the 6th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
The coordinated effort uncovered what appears to be a major drug trafficking network operating in the region.
The seizure comes just a day after another major bust at Jirania railway station in West Tripura district, where police recovered banned Eskuf cough syrup worth around ₹2 crore from two wagons of a freight train arriving from Delhi.
SDPO Rohan Krishan stated that an investigation is underway to trace the individuals behind the racket and dismantle the broader network involved.
He confirmed that the seized contraband has been secured and further legal action is being initiated.
The successful operation has drawn widespread appreciation from local residents and officials alike, highlighting both the police’s proactive measures and the growing public awareness against drug abuse in the Teliamura sub-division.
However, sources suggest that the recovered consignment might represent only a fraction of a much larger stockpile, indicating that deeper and more extensive trafficking networks could still be active in the area.
