NDA poised for decisive VC poll victory: CM

Date:

Agartala, 4th  October 2026 :   Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday expressed confidence that the NDA would emerge victorious in more than 90 per cent of the seats in the Village Committee elections, with counting scheduled to commence on Monday.

Saha said the elections were largely peaceful, barring a few isolated incidents, and maintained that the government was closely monitoring the post-poll situation. He said investigations were being conducted into the incidents reported during and after the elections.

“Election-related violence should not take place. Post-poll violence has been a challenge for a long time, and we must move away from this culture. I hope there will be no such incidents this time,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting the government’s performance in rural and tribal areas, Saha said development was now visible across the state. He pointed to improvements in road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity and other basic services as evidence of the government’s efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure.

Responding to criticism from opposition parties over the condition of roads, the Chief Minister said the situation had changed considerably in recent years.

“There were places where roads and lanes were earlier difficult to use. Today, concrete roads are being constructed in many such areas. The people themselves can see the changes,” he said.

Saha also highlighted initiatives to renovate and beautify lakes, strengthen bridges and improve other public infrastructure. He said the government had simultaneously focused on ensuring reliable electricity, drinking water supply and better maintenance of law and order.

According to the Chief Minister, efforts had also been made to simplify access to essential government documents and certificates, including Aadhaar-related services and Scheduled Caste certificates. He said various welfare schemes and financial assistance programmes were reaching eligible beneficiaries across the state.

Saha said the combination of infrastructure development, improved public services and welfare delivery had strengthened people’s confidence in the government.

Against this backdrop, he expressed optimism that voters in the Village Committee elections would give the NDA a strong mandate when the results are declared.
