Agartala, 5th May 2026: New leadership for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) was officially announced at the Council Bhavan on Tuesday. Bhabaranjan Reang has been appointed as the Chairman, while Runiel Debbarma has been named the Chief Executive Member (CEM).The announcement was made by Governor-nominated Returning Officer Jagadish Debbarma.
Speaking to the media, newly appointed CEM Runiel Debbarma stated that he will take the oath of office on Wednesday. He outlined his immediate priorities, emphasizing that his administration will work in “mission mode” to address critical issues related to drinking water and healthcare.
Debbarma further said that other developmental works would be taken up within the limitations of the available funds. He also raised concerns over financial constraints, claiming that the funds allocated to the Council are extremely limited.
Addressing political issues, he remarked that during elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) often raises allegations regarding alliances, but fails to take any concrete action. He attributed this to inadequate financial provisions.
The event was attended by Minister Brishaketu Debbarma, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, and several other leaders.
