Agartala, 1st January 2026 :  BJP State President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharya today announced a new MNREGA bill aimed at ensuring greater benefits and transparency for workers, while also reviewing the achievements of the state government over 2025.

Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state office, Kushabhau Bhavan, Bhattacharya was joined by State Vice Presidents Subal Bhowmik, Papia Dutta, Bimal Kanti Chakma, Tapas Bhattacharya; General Secretaries Bipin Debbarma and Amit Rakshit; and State Media In-Charge Sunit Sarkar.

Bhattacharya criticized the previous MNREGA system for a lack of transparency, emphasizing that the new bill will provide clearer provisions on worker benefits and opportunities. “The new system is designed to bring greater accountability and ensure that welfare schemes reach even the most marginalized sections of society,” he said.

Highlighting the government’s broader vision, Bhattacharya referred to the guiding principles of ‘Ek Bharat Srestha Bharat’ and ‘Ek Tripura, Srestha Tripura,’ underscoring efforts in 2025 to promote inclusive development. He outlined state initiatives such as the Chief Minister Tribal Development Mission, Mukhyamantri Model Bhal Lage Scheme, Mukhyamantri Matsya Bikash Yojana, Integrated Crop Management Programme, and various social assistance projects.

Bhattacharya also reaffirmed the government’s focus on women’s empowerment and youth employment, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Atmanirbhar Bharat, Atmanirbhar Mahila.” He highlighted transparent recruitment policies, government job appointments in 2025-26, and support for young entrepreneurs through loans and self-reliance schemes.

Concluding the conference, Bhattacharya reiterated the government’s commitment to the upliftment of both tribal and non-tribal communities and pledged that development efforts will continue with renewed vigor in 2026.
