Newborn Baby Girl Rescued from Roadside in North Tripura

Agartala, 17th February 2025:  A newborn baby girl was rescued on Monday morning after being abandoned on the roadside in Jalabasa Gram Panchayat under the Panisagar subdivision of North Tripura district today.

The incident has left locals in shock and raised serious concerns.According to reports, the baby was found around 9:30 AM in Ward No. 6 of Jalabasa Gram Panchayat.

A woman from the area heard the cries of the infant and discovered her lying in the bushes on the roadside. She was horrified to find a group of ants crawling on the baby’s body. Without delay, she alerted the nearby residents and informed the Panisagar fire department.

Upon receiving the information, fire and emergency department personnel promptly arrived at the scene, rescued the newborn, and rushed her to Jalabasa Primary Health Center for immediate medical attention. The baby is currently undergoing treatment at the health center.

Meanwhile, the district’s Child Protection Unit has taken note of the incident and has contacted the hospital authorities. Officials have assured that necessary action will be taken once the baby recovers.
