Agartala, 10th September 2024:   Residents of the Bankul MLA farm area in Sabroom found the decomposed body of a newborn baby this morning, causing widespread alarm.

According to local sources, a plastic packet was found under a culvert on Prandhan Para road in the MLA farm area. Curious residents opened the packet and were horrified to find a freshly rotted corpse inside. Despite the immediate reporting of the incident to the Bankul outpost, police did not arrive until after noon, only responding when journalists began gathering information from the scene.

Further investigation revealed that on September 6th, around 1:10 PM, Nimala Tripura (19), wife of Kakan Tripura from Bishnupur Ashwini Chandra Para, gave birth to a stillborn baby girl at Bankul Primary Health Centre. The couple had signed a bond and taken the newborn’s body from the hospital for cremation. However, it is believed that instead of cremating the body, the couple dumped it under the culvert while leaving.
