Niting Gadkari approves 7 new projects & sanctions Rs 10222 crore for Tripura; CM thanks PM Modi

Agartala, November 11, 2022: Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Friday expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Road, Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari for approving seven new projects of national highways and ropeways for Tripura and sanctioning a fund of Rs 10,222 crore for these.

During the review meeting of the NE states on National Highways (NHs) construction work held at Guwahati, union Road, Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced approval of seven new projects for Tripura sanction a fund of Rs 10,222 crore.

The seven new approved projects include: Churaibari-Agartala NH-08 (171 km) four-lane (Rs 3,233 crore), Agartala bypass western and eastern sections (35 km) (Rs 3,161 crore), Khowai-Teliamura-Amarpur -Harina NH 208 (Rs 2,421 crore), four lane of Udaipur-Srimantapur road (34 km) (Rs 480 crore), four ropeway projects (Maharani-Chabimura, Udaipur Railway Station to Tripura Sundari Mandir, Jampui Hills, Suramachara in Kamalpur) (Rs 692 crore), three railway overhead bridges (Rs 35 crore), and construction of cement concrete roads in urban areas (Rs 200 crore).

The union minister directed the NHIDCL to expedite the ongoing 280 km national highway works in the state. He also directed the state government to speed up the land acquisition, forest land clearance, electricity, water lines for the progress of the project.

Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha, union minister of state for Road, Transport and Highways General (Dr) V K Singh, Principal Conservator of Forests, Principal Secretary, Department of Revenue and Secretary, Department of Works and senior officials of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India and National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited were present.

In this important meeting, MoU was also signed between Government of Tripura and National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for development of 4 ropeways in the state.
