Agartala, 21st July 2026; A delegation of the surrendered militant outfit NLFT on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, pressing for the early implementation of the 2024 tripartite peace accord and immediate rehabilitation of surrendered cadres.
Speaking after submitting the memorandum, NLFT president Prasenjit Debbarma claimed that despite the peace agreement being signed on September 4, 2024, most of the promises made to the surrendered members remain unfulfilled. He alleged that nearly 90 per cent of the returnees are yet to receive rehabilitation benefits and continue to face uncertainty over their future.
The organisation further alleged that the special economic development package promised under the accord has not been launched. It also expressed dissatisfaction over the exclusion of representatives from the NLFT (ORI) and ATTF returnee groups from the EIMC, SLEC and JWGC committees, which were to be constituted under the provisions of the agreement.
The memorandum called for the immediate constitution of these committees with adequate representation from the returnee groups and sought implementation of all development initiatives through these bodies. It also demanded that all commitments made under the tripartite accord be fulfilled within a definite timeframe.
Among the other demands were the nomination of NLFT (ORI) returnee leaders as Governor-nominated MDCs in the TTAADC, allotment of agricultural land to landless Tiprasa families, employment opportunities for eligible Tiprasa youths in state and central government services, including the Assam Rifles, BSF and CRPF, and speedy recognition and rehabilitation of all returnees belonging to NLFT (ORI), NLFT (PD) and ATTF covered under the agreement.
Claiming that repeated representations to the authorities have failed to produce any concrete outcome, the organisation appealed to the Governor to intervene and ensure timely implementation of the peace accord and its associated rehabilitation measures.
