Agartala, 13th July 2025: In a spirited push for artisan empowerment, Social Welfare and Social Education minister Tinku Roy today highlighted the transformative power of skill development under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at a certificate distribution ceremony held at Kalakshetra, Kailashahar in Unakoti district.
Organised jointly by Ashabari NGO and the Northeastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), the event saw 185 male and female artisans and entrepreneurs receive certificates for completing specialized training in traditional crafts. The ceremony was inaugurated by Minister Roy and other dignitaries with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
“The PM Vishwakarma Yojana isn’t just about skill training—it’s about recognizing the artisans and opening doors to social and economic advancement. As per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, this initiative aims at empowering those engaged in handicrafts and traditional occupations,” said Roy.
Roy hailed the day’s ceremony as more than a symbolic gesture. “Today’s certificate distribution is not just a sign of completion of training,” he added, “but a gateway to new opportunities. Use your skills to uplift your family, your society, and your state. The government stands firmly beside you.”
Among the dignitaries present were Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amalendu Das, Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy, District Magistrate Tamal Majumdar and Ashabari Sanstha Secretary Gopal Banik. Their collective presence reflected the administration’s commitment to supporting grassroots entrepreneurship and cultural heritage.
The PM Vishwakarma Yojana continues to play a pivotal role in bridging tradition with opportunity, reaffirming that skill truly is the foundation of self-reliance.
