Agartala, 13th July 2025: 13: A wave of shock swept through Bamutia following the recovery of a decomposed body from the river beneath the Guchamura bridge located under Bamutia Police Outpost.
According to sources, the recovery was made when a local resident spotted the body floating in the water and immediately alerted authorities. Police personnel arrived at the scene and later revealed that a 66-year-old man named Sridhar Sarkar had been reported missing since July 9.
When contacted, the family of the missing man identified the body as potentially belonging to Sarkar, though confirmation remains pending. His sister, while unable to visually identify the face due to its condition, noted a resemblance to her brother and claimed he may have been murdered and thrown into the river.
Police have launched an investigation and stated that the exact cause of death will be determined only after the post-mortem report is received. At present, they suspect the deceased to be Sridhar Sarkar but have not ruled out foul play.
