Agartala, 21st September 2026 : A TB Awareness and Screening Programme was organised at Tripura University in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura’s National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) Cell, with the aim of promoting awareness about tuberculosis, encouraging early detection and strengthening community participation in the fight against the disease.
The programme engaged university students in discussions on TB prevention, common symptoms, the importance of timely diagnosis and the need to complete the prescribed treatment. Screening activities were also conducted as part of the initiative.
Students actively participated in the programme and shared their experiences and reflections on the importance of TB awareness and collective action.
Speaking about the initiative, MPH student Nabamita Roy said the programme helped students learn about various aspects of tuberculosis while also providing them with an opportunity to undergo screening.
She expressed gratitude to the government, NHM and Tripura University for organising the programme and said she would make efforts to spread the information among her friends and family.
“I will try my best to make my friends and family aware of TB and share what we have learned here today. I hope the government continues to organise such initiatives in the future and keeps people informed about these important health issues,” she said.
The programme highlighted the role of educational institutions and students in strengthening public health awareness and encouraging people to seek timely screening and treatment. The organisers emphasised the importance of spreading awareness, encouraging screening and ensuring treatment completion towards the goal of a TB-free future.
